Odd Symphony ♫
Not Just a Mere One

"The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind."

Imagine a world without teachers. Would there be professionals, like doctors and engineers? None. Absurd, isn't it? All those people we look up to had gone through studying and it can't be done with no one teaching them. Teachers build up students. They dedicate their time and effort to teach people whom they don't even know. They work hard for us because they believe that we can build a better future. And these qualities made them heroes of our world.

I have met different teachers through my life at school, from preschool up to the present. I still remember their names, their faces, and how they helped me reach this stage of my life. However, there's one whom I know will truly last in my mind.

I haven't had a personal encounter with her but I consider her as the teacher who really inspired me the most.  Even though there is a huge generation gap between us, she still manages to relate with her students, and that's what I like most about her. Moreover, her positive outlook, along with her lively attitude and her open mind gives me motivation to truly appreciate her, not only what she teaches us. I feel the passion and sincerity in what she does. Despite the fact that she didn't want to teach in the first place, she learned how to accept the path where God led her, and that made me believe that God truly has plans for everyone and everyone has a purpose for living. She is Mrs. Mildred C. Atendido, my third year English teacher, and I salute her for giving her time to us, not only in teaching, but in sharing what she knows and opening up her experiences to us. For me, she is not just a mere teacher. She is more like a special person who leaves a mark on my mind to be treasured throughout my lifetime.

There may only be one teacher that I mentioned, but I acknowledge all of the teachers I met in my life. Without them, I would not be in a science high school. Without them, I would only know of few things. I am indebted to you and I promise that I will, if not pay you back, pay forward for the things you have done.

P.S. One of my elementary teachers and a good friend to my parents just passed away earlier this day. She was a great teacher and I thank her for believing in my and my sister's abilities while we were still under her tutelage. You will always remain in our hearts, Mrs. Andaya.
