Through the Humor

William Shakespeare is known for his plays, which contain tragedy, romance and comedy, and one of those is The Comedy of Errors. As the title suggests, this play is full of humor coming from slapstick and mistaken identities. This is one of Shakespeare's shortest and one of his most farcical comedies.

The Comedy of Errors is a story about two pairs of identical twins that were separated just after they were born. Antipholus of Syracuse, along with his slave Dromio of Syracuse traveled in search for their long lost twin brothers. Coincidentally, they arrived at Ephesus where their brothers, Antipholus of Ephesus and Dromio of Ephesus live. However, upon their arrival, a series of mishaps occurred because of mistaken identities between the twins and false accusations of madness, infidelity and theft. But in the end, all were resolved and the pair of twins met and reunited.

These series of eventful happenings made me attracted to the play. There may be exaggerated and confusing parts, but those made up the humor throughout the whole story. And through the funny occurrences, I learned important lessons. We should learn to know the reasons behind things and not merely accuse someone. And most of all, if there is love and happiness, we can conquer any mess.
