Simplicity and BeautyThursday, January 3, 2013 | 0Superstar (s)!
There
are a lot of theories regarding Mona Lisa's smile. Some says her mile hides
different emotions - surprised, happy, angry, sad, ..., and neutral. Some
doctors even said that she suffers from muscular atrophy. But for me, Mona Lisa
is just a depiction of a simple lady from Europe, painted by the famous
Leonardo Da Vinci.
Simplicity
is the best noun to compare with Mona Lisa. There’s nothing in the painting
other than her and her smile. There are no extra gaudy things needed to make
the painting more beautiful because Mona Lisa is beauty herself.
Da
Vinci had made a beautiful masterpiece with simplicity. And this characteristic
makes the world wonder about the painting. They could not imagine how beauty
and sophistication were combined in this simple work of art.

William Shakespeare is known for his plays, which contain tragedy, romance and comedy, and one of those is The Comedy of Errors. As the title suggests, this play is full of humor coming from slapstick and mistaken identities. This is one of Shakespeare's shortest and one of his most farcical comedies. The Comedy of Errors is a story about two pairs of identical twins that were separated just after they were born. Antipholus of Syracuse, along with his slave Dromio of Syracuse traveled in search for their long lost twin brothers. Coincidentally, they arrived at Ephesus where their brothers, Antipholus of Ephesus and Dromio of Ephesus live. However, upon their arrival, a series of mishaps occurred because of mistaken identities between the twins and false accusations of madness, infidelity and theft. But in the end, all were resolved and the pair of twins met and reunited. These series of eventful happenings made me attracted to the play. There may be exaggerated and confusing parts, but those made up the humor throughout the whole story. And through the funny occurrences, I learned important lessons. We should learn to know the reasons behind things and not merely accuse someone. And most of all, if there is love and happiness, we can conquer any mess. Romeo and Juliet, as we all know, is a tragic story. The star-crossed lovers died at the end. But i want to make a twist. Something that will make you laugh, maybe. But anyway, it is kind of short but please bear with this ending that I made. :)
Act V, Scene III (Comic Relief)
Romeo rushed to Apothecary upon hearing the news from Balthasar that Juliet was dead. He wanted to join his wife in death so he bought a very powerful potion that can kill him easily. Then he went to a firearm and ammunition store in Mantua to buy a gun to shoot himself. And he went to a hardware and bought a rope. He really wanted to make sure that he will die.He was now on his way to Verona but some guards from the Capulet family recognized that he was a Montague so they gave him a beating. Romeo didn't fight back because he wanted to die. But unluckily, some Montague's saw that their young master was about to be killed so they immediately dashed and beat the Capulet's so Romeo was saved. Romeo has arrived in Verona. He went to the bridge and prepared all the materials he needed for suicide. He first tied the rope on the bridge then he tied the other end of the rope around his neck. He drank the poison, jumped out of the bridge then shot himself but, the gun wasn't aimed at his head. Instead, it was aimed at the rope so it was cut and he fell into the river. Because he didn't expect that he would fall so he wasn't ready for the fall, he had drunk so much river water and he vomited, including the poison. And, he just floated on the water and flowed through the river and didn't die. Labels: FirstGrading, InformalTheme#5 |
